Sri Venkateshwara Stotram - Sloka 1

॥ श्री वेङ्कटेश स्तोत्रम् ॥

||  ஶ்ரீ வேங்கடேஶ ஸ்தோத்ரம் ||

॥ ŚRĪ VEṄKAṬEŚA STOTRAM ॥

कमलाकुचचूचुक कुङ्कुमतो नियतारुणितातुलनीलतनो ।
कमलायतलोचन लोकपते विजयी भव वेङ्कटशैलपते ॥ १॥

கமலாகுசசூசுக குங்குமதோ நியதாருணிதாதுலனீலதனோ |
கமலாயதலோசன லோகபதே விஜயீ ப⁴வ வேங்கடஶைலபதே ||  1||

kamalākucacūcuka kuṅkumato niyatāruṇitātulanīlatano ।
kamalāyatalocana lokapate vijayī bhava veṅkaṭaśailapate ॥ 1॥

कमला-कुच-चूचुक कुङ्कुमतो  -  கமலா-குச-சூசுக குங்குமதோ  -  திருமகள் மஹாலக்ஷ்மியினுடைய திருமார்பகத்தின் முலைக்காம்புகளில் இருப்பதான குங்குமத்தால்,

नियत-अरुणित-अतुल-नील-तनो   -  நியத-அருணித-அதுல-நீல-தனோ   -  பரவிய ( குங்குமச் ) சிவப்பையுடைய, நிகரற்ற, நீல வண்ண திவ்ய மங்கள விக்ரஹத்தை உடையவரே

कमल-आयत-लोचन   -  கமல-ஆயத-லோசன  -  தாமரை போன்ற அகன்ற கண்களைக் கொண்டவரே

लोकपते  -  லோகபதே  -  உலகுக்குத் தலைவரே

वेङ्कट-शैल-पते  -  வேங்கட-ஶைல-பதே  -  வேங்கட மலைக்கு அரசே

विजयी भव  -  விஜயீ ப⁴வ  -  தங்களுக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.

பொருள் :

திருமகள் மஹாலக்ஷ்மியினுடைய திருமார்பகத்தின் முலைக்காம்புகளில் இருப்பதான குங்குமத்தால், பரவிய ( குங்குமச் ) சிவப்பையுடைய, நிகரற்ற, நீலவண்ண திவ்ய மங்கள விக்ரஹத்தை உடையவரே !  தாமரை போன்ற அகன்ற கண்களைக் கொண்டவரே !  உலகுக்குத் தலைவரே !  வேங்கட மலைக்கு அரசே !  தங்களுக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   1

இந்த ச்லோகம், பெருமாளுக்கும் பிராட்டிக்கும் இடையிலான அன்யோன்யத்தைக் காட்டுகிறது. பிராட்டியின் அணைப்பினால் லோகநாதன் ( அதாவது நம் தர்ம அதர்மங்களை நோக்கி அதற்கான கர்ம பலன்களைத் தர வேண்டியவரான ) பெருமாள் , அதை மறந்து ( மறக்கடிக்கப்பட்டு ) நம்மை மன்னித்து அருள்கிறார். இந்த செயலில் அவருக்கு ஸதா வெற்றி உண்டாக வேண்டும் என்று கருத்து.

Meaning :

Oh Lord of VenkatAchalam ! Oh Lord of the Universe ! Oh Lord with long eyes reaching almost to Your ears and reminding us of the softeness and beauty of lotus flower ! Oh Lord whose matchless dark hued body is renderd red always with the vermillion (Kumkumam) marks from the front portions of the breasts of MahA Lakshmi ! Victory be always to Thee!    1

The Lord's dark bluish body has a lasting redness due to the sambhandham with Sri MahA Lakshmi's saffron and kumkumam paste worn on Her breasts as beauty marks .The Lord's body is thus visualized as " KamalA kucha chUchuka kumkaumathO niyatha aruNitha athula neela Tanu". The anyOnyam of the divya dampathis is celebrated here . ThAyAr's intimate sambhandham is hinted as the reason why the Lord of the Venkatam hills will forgive our trspasses due to the intercession of our most benevolent Mother united with Him in an inseparable manner .
