॥ श्री महिषासुरमर्दिनि स्तोत्रम् ॥

||  ஶ்ரீ மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ஸ்தோத்ரம் || 

॥ ŚRĪ MAHIṢĀSURAMARDINI STOTRAM ॥

तव विमलेन्दुकुलं वदनेन्दुमलं सकलं ननु कूलयते
किमु पुरुहूत-पुरीन्दुमुखी-सुमुखीभिरसौ विमुखी क्रियते।
मम तु मतं शिवनामधने भवती कृपया किमुत क्रियते
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥१९॥

தவ விமலேந்து³குலம்ʼ வத³னேந்து³மலம்ʼ ஸகலம்ʼ நனு கூலயதே
கிமு புருஹூத-புரீந்து³முகீ²-ஸுமுகீ²பி⁴ரஸௌ விமுகீ² க்ரியதே| 
மம து மதம்ʼ ஶிவனாமத⁴னே ப⁴வதீ க்ருʼபயா கிமுத க்ரியதே
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 19|| 

tava vimalendukulaṃ vadanendumalaṃ sakalaṃ nanu kūlayate
kimu puruhūta-purīndumukhī-sumukhībhirasau vimukhī kriyate।
mama tu mataṃ śivanāmadhane bhavatī kṛpayā kimuta kriyate
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥19॥

பொருள் :

உனது, அழுக்கற்ற ஆயிரக் கணக்கான சந்திரர்களை ஒத்த திருமுகத்தின் தரிசனமே போதும், என் மும்மலங்களும் அகல.
அத்தகைய உன் முகத்தோடு ஒப்பிடுகையில், இந்திரபுரியில் ( சுவர்கம் ) உள்ள மிக்க அழகான முகங்களும் அழகற்றதாகிறது.
சிவநாமத்தையே அரும்பெரும் செல்வமாகக் கொண்ட உனது கிருபையால் ஆகாதது என்று எதுவும் இல்லை ( எதுவும் முடியும் ) என்பது எனது கருத்து. அப்படிப்பட்ட ஹே மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   19

Meaning :

(O Divine Mother, I invoke You and take refuge in Your Auspicious Feet)
19.1: (Salutations to You O Divine Mother) I Invoke You; Whose Moon-Like Face is the Abode of Spotless and Stainless Purity which Certainly Subdues All Impurities,
19.2: Otherwise, Why have my Mind Turned Away from the Moon-Faced Beautiful Ladies like those present in Indra's Castle?
19.3: According to my opinion; Without Your Grace, How is it possible to Discover the Treasure of Shiva's Name within us? (Therefore I continue to Invoke Your Grace),
19.4: Victory to You, Victory to You, (I take Refuge in Your Auspicious Feet) O the Destroyer of Demon Mahishasura; (Victory to You) Who Shine with Beautiful Locks of Hair and Who is the Daughter of the Mountain.   19

अयि मयि दीनदयालुतया कृपयैव त्वया भवितव्यमुमे
अयि जगतो जननी कृपयाऽसि यथाऽसि तथाऽनुमितासिरते।
यदुचितमत्र भवत्युररि कुरुतादुरुतापमपाकुरुते
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥२०॥
 
॥ इति श्री महिषासुरमर्दिनि स्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥

அயி மயி தீ³னத³யாலுதயா க்ருʼபயைவ த்வயா ப⁴விதவ்யமுமே
அயி ஜக³தோ ஜனனீ க்ருʼபயா(அ)ஸி யதா²(அ)ஸி ததா²(அ)நுமிதாஸிரதே| 
யது³சிதமத்ர ப⁴வத்யுரரி குருதாது³ருதாபமபாகுருதே
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 20|| 
 
||  இதி ஶ்ரீ மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ஸ்தோத்ரம்ʼ ஸம்பூர்ணம் ||

ayi mayi dīnadayālutayā kṛpayaiva tvayā bhavitavyamume
ayi jagato jananī kṛpayā'si yathā'si tathā'numitāsirate।
yaducitamatra bhavatyurari kurutādurutāpamapākurute
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥20॥
 
॥ iti śrī mahiṣāsuramardini stotraṃ sampūrṇam ॥

பொருள் :

ஹே உமா தேவி !  ( எப்பொழுதும் ) தீனர்களுக்கு  கருணை காட்டுபவளாதலால், என்மீதும் கருணையே செய். அம்மா ! உலகத்திற்கு அன்னையானவளே !  நீ  எப்படி கருணை காட்டுகிறாயோ அதேபடிக்கு அம்புகளையும் எய்கிறாய் ( கண்டிப்பையும் காட்டுகிறாய் ). எனக்கு இங்கு எது உசிதமோ, அதையே செய்து, என் துன்பங்களை நீக்கி அருள்வாயாக, ஹே மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   20

இத்துடன் ஸ்ரீ மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தினி ஸ்தோத்ரம் நிறைவு பெறுகிறது.

(O Divine Mother, I invoke You and take refuge in Your Auspicious Feet)
20.1: (Salutations to You O Divine Mother) I Invoke You; You Must Bestow Your Grace on Me, O Mother Uma, Who is Compassionate to the Miserable,
20.2: (I Invoke You) O Mother of the Universe; Just as Your Grace is Showered (on the Devotees), In the Same Manner are Your Arrows Scattered (on the Enemies) (destroying their egos),
20.3 Please do Whatever is Appropriate at this time, O Worshipful Mother, to Remove the Sorrows and Afflictions (of the world) which has become Difficult for me to bear,
20.4: Victory to You, Victory to You, (I take Refuge in Your Auspicious Feet) O the Destroyer of Demon Mahishasura; (Victory to You) Who Shine with Beautiful Locks of Hair and Who is the Daughter of the Mountain.   20

जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥१७॥

பத³கமலம்ʼ கருணானிலயே வரிவஸ்யதி யோ(அ)நுதி³னம்ʼ ஸ ஶிவே
அயி கமலே கமலானிலயே கமலானிலய​: ஸ கத²ம்ʼ ந ப⁴வேத்| 
தவ பத³மேவ பரம்பத³மித்யனுஶீலயதோ மம கிம்ʼ ந ஶிவே
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 17|| 

padakamalaṃ karuṇānilaye varivasyati yo'nudinaṃ sa śive
ayi kamale kamalānilaye kamalānilayaḥ sa kathaṃ na bhavet।
tava padameva parampadamityanuśīlayato mama kiṃ na śive
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥17॥

பொருள் :

ஹே கருணையின் இருப்பிடமானவளே !  மங்களரூபியானவளே !  உன் திருவடித் தாமரைகளை, யார் அனுதினமும் பூஜிக்கிறார்களோ, ஹே தாமரையினின்று உதித்தவளே !  சிறந்த பண்புகளின் இருப்பிடமானவளே !,  அவன் எவ்வாறு சிறந்த பண்பாளனாக, சிறந்த ஐச்வர்யங்களை உடையவனாக ஆகாமலிருப்பான்? ( கண்டிப்பாக ஆகுவான் ). ( அப்படியிருக்க ) நின் பதத்தை மட்டுமே கதி என்றிருக்கும் அடியேனுக்கு ( நினதருள் ) ஏன் கிடைக்காது ! ( கண்டிப்பாகக் கிடைக்கும் ), மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   17

17.2: (He Serves) That Lotus (Lotus Feet), Which is an Abode of Kamala (Goddess Mahalakshmi); (Therefore) Will He Not Himself Become an Abode of Kamala (i.e. filled with Purity and Prosperity)?
17.3: Your Feet Indeed is the Supreme Feet (i.e. Supreme Refuge); Therefore How can I Not Practise Devotion Towards them, O Auspicious Mother?
17.4: Victory to You, Victory to You, (I take Refuge in Your Auspicious Feet) O the Destroyer of Demon Mahishasura; (Victory to You) Who Shine with Beautiful Locks of Hair and Who is the Daughter of the Mountain.   17

कनकलसत्कल-सिन्धुजलैरनुसिञ्चिनुते गुण-रङ्गभुवम्
भजति स किं न शचीकुच-कुम्भ-तटी-परिरम्भ-सुखानुभवम्।
तव चरणं शरणं करवाणि नतामरवाणि निवासि शिवम्
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥१८॥

கனகலஸத்கல-ஸிந்து⁴ஜலைரனுஸிஞ்சினுதே கு³ண-ரங்க³பு⁴வம்
ப⁴ஜதி ஸ கிம்ʼ ந ஶசீகுச-கும்ப⁴-தடீ-பரிரம்ப⁴-ஸுகா²னுப⁴வம்| 
தவ சரணம்ʼ ஶரணம்ʼ கரவாணி நதாமரவாணி நிவாஸி ஶிவம்
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 18|| 

kanakalasatkala-sindhujalairanusiñcinute guṇa-raṅgabhuvam
bhajati sa kiṃ na śacīkuca-kumbha-taṭī-parirambha-sukhānubhavam।
tava caraṇaṃ śaraṇaṃ karavāṇi natāmaravāṇi nivāsi śivam
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥18॥

பொருள் :

பொன்னைப்போல் பிரகாசிக்கின்ற, இனிய சுவையுடைய, நதி நீரைக்கொண்டு உன் கலையரங்கத்தை ( கோயில் ) வாசல் தெளித்து கோலமிட்டு வழிபடுபவர்கள்; கும்பம் போன்ற ஸ்தனங்களையுடைய இந்திராணியால் அணைக்கப்படுவதான ( அதாவது இந்திரனுடைய ) ஸௌக்யத்தை ஏன் அடைய மாட்டார்கள் ?! ( கண்டிப்பாக அடைவார்கள் ). தேவர்களால் வணங்கப்படுகின்ற, சர்வ மங்களங்களுக்கும் இருப்பிடமாகிற, கலைவாணியே ! உன் திருவடிகளில் சரணடைகிறேன். மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   18

18.2: Will He not Feel the Joy of Your All-Embracing Grace contained in Your Pitcher-Like Bosom (i.e. Cosmic Heart)?
18.3: (Therefore) I Take Refuge at Your Feet, O Vani (Devi Mahasaraswati), and I Prostate before You, O Eternal Vani (Devi Mahasaraswati), in Whom Resides All Auspiciousness,

jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥15॥

பொருள் :

நிலவின் தண்ணொளியைக்கூட தோற்கச் செய்கின்ற அழகிய கிரணங்கள் பிரகாசிக்கின்ற பட்டாடையை இடுப்பில் அணிந்தவளே !  உன் திருவடிகளைப் பணிகின்ற தேவர் மற்றும் அசுரர்களின் கிரீடங்களில் பதிக்கப்பட்ட மாணிக்கக் கற்களைப் பிரதிபலிக்கச் செய்கின்ற, நிலவொளி போன்ற ஒளியை வீசுகின்ற நகங்களை உடையவளே !  பொன்மலையான சுமேருவை ஜெயத்த மதத்தில் உள்ள யானையின் நிமிர்ந்த தலை போன்று, நிமிர்ந்த கும்பத்தை ஒத்த ஸ்தனங்களை உடையவளே !   மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   15

15.3: Who Win over the Mighty Heads Swollen with Pride like Golden Mountain, with the Pre-eminence (of Power and Compassion) Abounding in Her Pitcher-Like Bosom,

விஜித-ஸஹஸ்ரகரைக-ஸஹஸ்ரகரைக-ஸஹஸ்ரகரைகனுதே
க்ருʼதஸுரதாரக-ஸங்க³ரதாரக-ஸங்க³ரதாரக-ஸூனுஸுதே| 
ஸுரத²-ஸமாதி⁴ ஸமானஸமாதி⁴ ஸமாதி⁴ஸமாதி⁴ ஸுஜாதரதே

vijita-sahasrakaraika-sahasrakaraika-sahasrakaraikanute
kṛtasuratāraka-saṅgaratāraka-saṅgaratāraka-sūnusute।
suratha-samādhi samānasamādhi samādhisamādhi sujātarate
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥16॥

பொருள் :

தன் ஆயிரம் கைகளால் வெல்லப்பட்டதான, அஸுரர்களின் ஆயிரக் கணக்கான கைகளாலும், காப்பாற்ற வேண்டி நின்ற தேவர்களின் ஆயிரக் கணக்கான கைகளால் வணங்கப்பட்டவளே !  தேவர்களுக்கு காப்பாளன் ஒருவனை ( முருகப் பெருமான் ) நியமித்து, தாரகாஸுரனுடன் யுத்தம் செய்யவைத்து, ( தேவர்களை )  துன்பங்களிலிருந்து தாண்டச் செய்தவளே !   உயர்குலத்திலுதித்த ஸுரதன் ( ஒரு அரசன் ), சமாதி ( ஒரு வணிகன் ) இருவராலும் சமானமான வகையில் தவம் செய்து உபாஸிக்கப்பட்டவளே !   மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   16

16.2: (I Invoke You) Who Created the Rescuer of the Devas (Son Kartikeya) to Fight with Demon Tarkasura and then Urged Her Son for that Great Fight,
16.3: Who is Pleased with both: The Devotional Contemplation like King Suratha for Worldly Gains, and also the Excellent Devotional Contemplation like Merchant Samadhi for Spiritual Knowledge,

जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥१३॥

கமல-த³லாமல-கோமல-காந்தி கலாகலிதாமல-பா⁴லலதே
ஸகல-விலாஸ-கலானிலயக்ரம-கேலி-சலத்கல-ஹம்ʼஸகுலே| 
அலிகுல-ஸங்குல-குவலய-மண்ட³ல-மௌலிமிலத்³ப⁴குலாலி-குலே
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 13||

kamala-dalāmala-komala-kānti kalākalitāmala-bhālalate
sakala-vilāsa-kalānilayakrama-keli-calatkala-haṃsakule।
alikula-saṅkula-kuvalaya-maṇḍala-maulimiladbhakulāli-kule
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥13॥

பொருள் :

தாமரையிதழ் போல தூய, மென்மையான பிரகாசிக்கிறதான,  பார்த்துப் பார்த்து செய்த கொடி போன்ற நெற்றியை உடையவளே !   தன் சிரிப்பு, விளையாட்டு, நடை போன்ற எல்லா சேஷ்டிதங்களிலும் கலையம்சம் பொருந்தியதும், அன்னப் பறவையை ஒத்த நளினத்தையும் உடையவளே !  வண்டுகளால் சூழப்பட்ட அல்லி, மகிளம் மலர்களால் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்ட வேணியை ( ஜடை ) உடையவளே !  மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   13

13.3: Whose Ornamented and Braided Hair Combines the Beauty and Sweetness of the Blue Water Lily crowded by Swarm of Bees AND the Bakula Flower infested with a Swarm of Bees,

करमुरली-रव-वीजित-कूजित-लज्जित-कोकिल-मञ्जुमते

பொருள் :

தான் குழல் ஓசை கேட்டு, குயிலே ( தன் குரல் இனிமை அல்ல என்று ) நாணும்படியான இனிய குரலோசை உடையவளே !  பசுமையான பலவண்ணப் பூக்களைக் கொண்டு விளங்கும் ரம்யமான காட்டில், அங்குள்ள மக்களுடன் சேர்ந்து மனத்திற்கினிய கானம் பாடுபவளே !  வனப் பிரதேசத்தில் தன்னுடன் நற்குணங்களுடன் வாழுமவர்களுடன்,  இனிதாக ஆடி, பாடி, விளையாடுபவளே !   மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   14

ஒரு பெரிய யாகத்தைப் போல் நடக்கின்றதான யுத்தத்தில், மல்லிகையைப் போன்று மென்மையான, வீரங்கனைகளுடன் யுத்தம் செய்யும் தேவியே !  காட்டுமல்லியைப் போன்று மென்மையான,  அவ்வீராங்கனைகளால் சூழப்பட்டுள்ளவளே !   மலர்கள் மலர்வதைப் போன்றதும், இளஞ்சூரியனைப் போன்று பிரகாசிக்கிறதுமான முகமுடையவளே !  மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   11

கன்னத்திலிருந்து மதநீர் வழிகின்ற, மதம் கொண்ட யானைகளின் அரசனைப் போன்ற ஆற்றல் கொண்ட வீரசாம்ராஜ்யத்தின் இளவரசியே !  மூவுலகங்களுக்கும் ஆபரணம் எனத்தக்கதான கலை, அழகு, ஆற்றல் இவைகளின் இருப்பிடமாக விளங்கும் கலையுலகின் இளவரசியே ! 
அழகிய பல்வரிசையுடைய / புன்னகையுடைய நங்கைகளின் மேல் இச்சை ஏற்படுத்தி மனஸை மோஹிக்கச் செய்யும் சிருங்கார உலகின் இளவரசியே !  மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   12

யுத்தத்திற்கு முன்னும் பின்னும் "ஜய..ஜய.." என்ற ஜயகோஷத்துடன் தேவியை ஸ்துதி செய்யத் தயாராக இருக்கும் உலக மக்களால் வணங்கப்படுபவளே !  கொலுசுகளிலிருந்துவருவதான 'ஜல் ஜல்' எனும் நாதத்தினாலேயே,   பூதங்களுக்குப் பதியான ஈச்வரனை மோஹிக்கச் செய்பவளே !   நடனக்காரனும் நடனக்காரியும் சரிபாதியாய் இருக்குமிடத்து, நடனக்காரருடன் சேர்ந்து நடனமாடுவதுடன் நல்ல கானத்தையும் ரசிப்பவளே !  மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   9

தனது ஒரு ஹுங்காரத்தினாலேயே  தூம்ரலோசனனை. ( ஒரு அஸுரன் ), நூற்றுக்கணக்கான தூசுக்களாக சிதைத்து, உருவமே இல்லாமல் செய்தவளே !  போரில் ரக்தபீஜனையும், அவனது ரத்தம் பட்ட இடத்திலெல்லாம் கொடிபோல தொடர்ந்து உருவான ரக்தபீஜர்களையும் ( ரத்தத்தைத் குடித்து ) அழித்தவளே !  போராகிய யஜ்ஞத்தில், ஆஹுதியாக சும்ப நிசும்பர்களையே கொடுத்து ( அழித்து ), பூத பிசாச கணங்களை திருப்திபடச் செய்தவளே !  மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   7

கையிலணியப்பெற்ற பொன்வளையல், போரின் ஒவ்வொரு கட்டத்திலும், வில்லை வளைத்து யுத்தம் செய்கையில், நர்த்தனம் ஆடுகிறதோ என்றென்னும்படி போர் செய்பவளே !  பகைவர்களின் உடலில் தைப்பதால், பொன்னிற அம்புகள் செந்நிற அம்புகளாக மாறும்படி போர் செய்பவளே !  தன்னைச் சுற்றி, தலையில் பலவர்ணங்களைப் பூசிககொண்டு, தற்பெருமையைப் பற்றி கூச்சலிட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கும், எதிரிகளின் சதுரங்க சேனையின் பலத்தை ஒழிப்பவளே !  மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   8

அயி ரண-து³ர்மத³-ஶத்ரு-வதோ⁴தி³த-து³ர்த⁴ர-நிர்ஜர-ஶக்திப்⁴ருʼதே
சதுர-விசார-து⁴ரீண-மஹாஶிவ-தூ³தக்ருʼத-ப்ரமதா²தி⁴பதே| 
து³ரித-து³ரீஹ-து³ராஶய-து³ர்மதி-தா³னவதூ³த-க்ருʼதாந்தமதே
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 5|| 

ayi raṇa-durmada-śatru-vadhodita-durdhara-nirjara-śaktibhṛte
catura-vicāra-dhurīṇa-mahāśiva-dūtakṛta-pramathādhipate।
durita-durīha-durāśaya-durmati-dānavadūta-kṛtāntamate
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥5॥

பொருள் :

அதர்மத்திற்கு எதிரான போரில் மிக்க நாட்டமுடைய, சத்ருக்களை அழிக்கவென்றே தோன்றிய, தடுக்க இயலாத, அழிவில்லாத சக்தியை உடையவளே !  பகுத்து ஆராய்வதில் வல்லவரான சிவபெருமானை எதிரிகளிடம் தூதாக அனுப்பியவளே !  கீழ்த்தரமான, கெட்ட எண்ணமும் நோக்கமும், புத்தியுமுடைய தானவ (அஸுர) தூதர்களை அழித்தவளே !  மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே, அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே, மலைமகளே, உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   5

Meaning :

(O Divine Mother, I invoke You and take refuge in Your Auspicious Feet)
5.1: Salutations to You O Divine Mother; I Invoke You; Who Manifested to Destroy the Battle-Intoxicated Arrogant Demons and Who is the possessor of Unrestrainable and Imperishable Power,
5.2: (I Invoke You) Who made Lord Shiva Her Messenger, that Shiva Who is Distinguished by Cleverness in Deliberation and is the Lord of the Ghosts and Goblins,
5.3: Who is Honoured for Bringing an End (i.e. Rejecting) to the Proposal of the Evil-Minded and Ignorant Messenger of the Demon (Shumbha) (and hence bringing an end to the demons themselves),
5.4: Victory to You, Victory to You, (I take Refuge in Your Auspicious Feet) O the Destroyer of Demon Mahishasura; (Victory to You) Who Shine with Beautiful Locks of Hair and Who is the Daughter of the Mountain.   5

अयि शरणागत-वैरि-वधूवर-वीर-वराभय-दायकरे
त्रिभुवन-मस्तक-शूल-विरोधि शिरोधि कृतामल-शूलकरे।
दुमिदुमि-तामर-दुन्दुभिनाद-महो-मुखरीकृत-तिग्मकरे
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥६॥

tribhuvana-mastaka-śūla-virodhi śirodhi kṛtāmala-śūlakare।
dumidumi-tāmara-dundubhināda-maho-mukharīkṛta-tigmakare
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥6॥

பொருள் :

சரணடைந்த எதிரிகளின் மனைவியருக்கும், வீரர்களுக்கும் அபயமளிப்பவளே !  தன் சூலத்திற்கு ( தனக்கு ) எதிராக இருப்பவன் மூவுலகை ஆள்பவனானாலும், தன் திரிசூலத்தால் அவனை தலைவணங்கச் செய்பவளே ! துந்துபி எனும் வாத்தியதிலிருந்து எழும் ' தும் தும் ' எனும் நாதப் பிரவாஹத்தைப் போல் அட்டஹாஸம் செய்பவளே !   மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   6

6.1: Salutations to You O Divine Mother; I Invoke You; Who gave Abhaya to the Heroic Soldiers of the Enemy when their Good Wives took Her Refuge,
6.2: (I Invoke You) Whose Pure Trident in Hand Capture the Heads of the Heads (Rulers) of the Three Worlds who Oppose that Trident,
6.3: Whose Victory give rise to Dumi-Dumi Sound of Dundubhi Drum flowing incessantly like Water which fills All the Directions with Joy,
6.4: Victory to You, Victory to You, (I take Refuge in Your Auspicious Feet) O the Destroyer of Demon Mahishasura; (Victory to You) Who Shine with Beautiful Locks of Hair and Who is the Daughter of the Mountain.   6
