॥ श्री महिषासुरमर्दिनि स्तोत्रम् ॥

||  ஶ்ரீ மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ஸ்தோத்ரம் ||

॥ ŚRĪ MAHIṢĀSURAMARDINI STOTRAM ॥

अयि गिरिनन्दिनि नन्दितमेदिनि विश्वविनोदिनि नन्दिनुते
गिरिवर-विन्ध्य-शिरोधिनिवासिनि विष्णुविलासिनि जिष्णुनुते।
भगवति हे शितिकण्ठकुटुम्बिनि भूरिकुटुम्बिनि भूरिकृते
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥१॥

அயி கி³ரினந்தி³னி நந்தி³தமேதி³னி விஶ்வவினோதி³னி நந்தி³னுதே
கி³ரிவர-விந்த்⁴ய-ஶிரோதி⁴னிவாஸினி விஷ்ணுவிலாஸினி ஜிஷ்ணுனுதே|
ப⁴க³வதி ஹே ஶிதிகண்ட²குடும்பி³னி பூ⁴ரிகுடும்பி³னி பூ⁴ரிக்ருʼதே
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 1||

ayi girinandini nanditamedini viśvavinodini nandinute
girivara-vindhya-śirodhinivāsini viṣṇuvilāsini jiṣṇunute।
bhagavati he śitikaṇṭhakuṭumbini bhūrikuṭumbini bhūrikṛte
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥1॥

பொருள் :

மலையரசனின் மகளே, உலகை மகிழ்விப்பவளே, விளையாட்டாக உலகை நடத்திச் செல்பவளே, நந்தியால் வழிபடப்பட்டவளே, சிறந்த மலையான விந்திய மலையின் சிகரத்தில் வாஸம் செய்பவளே, திருமாலுக்குப் பெருமை சேர்ப்பவளே, வெற்றி வீரர்களால் / இந்திரனால் துதிக்கப்படுபவளே, பகவதீ, நீலகண்டரின் பத்தினியே, உலகமாகிய பெரிய குடும்பத்தை உடையவளே, அரியவற்றைச் சாதிப்பவளே, மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே, அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே, மலைமகளே, உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   1

Meaning:

(O Divine Mother, I invoke You and take refuge in Your Auspicious Feet)
1.1: Salutations to You O Divine Mother, I Invoke You; Who is the Daughter of the Mountain; By Whose presence the whole World is filled with Joy; For Whom the whole World is a Divine Play and Who is Praised by Nandi,
1.2: (I Invoke You O Devi) Who Dwell on the Summit of the Vindhyas, the Best of the Mountains; Who give Joy to Lord Vishnu (as His sister) and Who is Praised by Lord Indra,
1.3: O Goddess Bhagavati, Who is the Consort of the One with Blue Throat (Lord Shiva); Who has Many Many Relations in this World (being the Cosmic Mother) and Who has Created Abundance (in Creation),
1.4: Victory to You, Victory to You, (I take Refuge in Your Auspicious Feet) O the Destroyer of Demon Mahishasura; (Victory to You) Who Shine with Beautiful Locks of Hair and Who is the Daughter of the Mountain.   1

सुरवरवर्षिणि दुर्धरधर्षिणि दुर्मुखमर्षिणि हर्षरते
त्रिभुवनपोषिणि शङ्करतोषिणि किल्बिषमोषिणि घोषरते।
दनुज-निरोषिणि दितिसुत-रोषिणि दुर्मद-शोषिणि सिन्धुसुते
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥२॥

ஸுரவரவர்ஷிணி து³ர்த⁴ரத⁴ர்ஷிணி து³ர்முக²மர்ஷிணி ஹர்ஷரதே
த்ரிபு⁴வனபோஷிணி ஶங்கரதோஷிணி கில்பி³ஷமோஷிணி கோ⁴ஷரதே|
த³னுஜ-நிரோஷிணி தி³திஸுத-ரோஷிணி து³ர்மத³-ஶோஷிணி ஸிந்து⁴ஸுதே
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 2||

suravaravarṣiṇi durdharadharṣiṇi durmukhamarṣiṇi harṣarate
tribhuvanapoṣiṇi śaṅkaratoṣiṇi kilbiṣamoṣiṇi ghoṣarate।
danuja-niroṣiṇi ditisuta-roṣiṇi durmada-śoṣiṇi sindhusute
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥2॥

பொருள் :

நல்லோருக்கு வரங்களை மழைபோல் பொழிபவளே,  கொடியவர்களை அடக்கி வைப்பவளே, கடுமையான வார்த்தைகளையும் பொறுப்பவளே, மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் பொலிபவளே, மூன்று உலகங்களுக்கும் உணவளித்துக் காப்பவளே, சிவபெருமானை மகிழ்விப்பவளே, பாவங்களைப் போக்குபவளே, பேரொலியில் மகிழ்பவளே, அஸுரர்களின்  கோபத்தை அடக்குபவளே, அஸுரர்கள் மீது கோபம் கொள்பவளே, தீயோரது கர்வத்தை பங்கம் செய்பவளே, அலை மகளே, மஹிஷாஸுரனை அழித்தவளே, அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே, மலைமகளே, உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   2

2.1: (Salutations to You O Divine Mother) I Invoke You; Who Shower Boons on the Devas; Who Overpowered Demon Durdhara (literally meaning Unrestrainable) and Endured Demon Durmukha (literally meaning Foul-Mouthed) and finally slayed him, and Who Delight in Her own Bliss,
2.2: (I Invoke You) Who Sustain and Nourish the Three-Worlds; Who Delight Lord Shankara by Removing the Sins (i.e. Sinful Demons) by Indulging in the Tumult of the Battle,
2.3: Who Quel the Wrath of the Danavas (Born from Danu) and is Angry with the Daityas (Son of Diti); Who Dry up the Foolish Pride of Demons; and Who is the Daughter of the Ocean (as Devi Lakshmi),
2.4: Victory to You, Victory to You, (I take Refuge in Your Auspicious Feet) O the Destroyer of Demon Mahishasura; (Victory to You) Who Shine with Beautiful Locks of Hair and Who is the Daughter of the Mountain.   2
