॥ श्री महिषासुरमर्दिनि स्तोत्रम् ॥

||  ஶ்ரீ மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ஸ்தோத்ரம் || 

॥ ŚRĪ MAHIṢĀSURAMARDINI STOTRAM ॥

अयि रण-दुर्मद-शत्रु-वधोदित-दुर्धर-निर्जर-शक्तिभृते
चतुर-विचार-धुरीण-महाशिव-दूतकृत-प्रमथाधिपते।
दुरित-दुरीह-दुराशय-दुर्मति-दानवदूत-कृतान्तमते
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥५॥

அயி ரண-து³ர்மத³-ஶத்ரு-வதோ⁴தி³த-து³ர்த⁴ர-நிர்ஜர-ஶக்திப்⁴ருʼதே
சதுர-விசார-து⁴ரீண-மஹாஶிவ-தூ³தக்ருʼத-ப்ரமதா²தி⁴பதே| 
து³ரித-து³ரீஹ-து³ராஶய-து³ர்மதி-தா³னவதூ³த-க்ருʼதாந்தமதே
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 5|| 

ayi raṇa-durmada-śatru-vadhodita-durdhara-nirjara-śaktibhṛte
catura-vicāra-dhurīṇa-mahāśiva-dūtakṛta-pramathādhipate।
durita-durīha-durāśaya-durmati-dānavadūta-kṛtāntamate
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥5॥

பொருள் :

அதர்மத்திற்கு எதிரான போரில் மிக்க நாட்டமுடைய, சத்ருக்களை அழிக்கவென்றே தோன்றிய, தடுக்க இயலாத, அழிவில்லாத சக்தியை உடையவளே !  பகுத்து ஆராய்வதில் வல்லவரான சிவபெருமானை எதிரிகளிடம் தூதாக அனுப்பியவளே !  கீழ்த்தரமான, கெட்ட எண்ணமும் நோக்கமும், புத்தியுமுடைய தானவ (அஸுர) தூதர்களை அழித்தவளே !  மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே, அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே, மலைமகளே, உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   5

Meaning :

(O Divine Mother, I invoke You and take refuge in Your Auspicious Feet)
5.1: Salutations to You O Divine Mother; I Invoke You; Who Manifested to Destroy the Battle-Intoxicated Arrogant Demons and Who is the possessor of Unrestrainable and Imperishable Power,
5.2: (I Invoke You) Who made Lord Shiva Her Messenger, that Shiva Who is Distinguished by Cleverness in Deliberation and is the Lord of the Ghosts and Goblins,
5.3: Who is Honoured for Bringing an End (i.e. Rejecting) to the Proposal of the Evil-Minded and Ignorant Messenger of the Demon (Shumbha) (and hence bringing an end to the demons themselves),
5.4: Victory to You, Victory to You, (I take Refuge in Your Auspicious Feet) O the Destroyer of Demon Mahishasura; (Victory to You) Who Shine with Beautiful Locks of Hair and Who is the Daughter of the Mountain.   5

अयि शरणागत-वैरि-वधूवर-वीर-वराभय-दायकरे
त्रिभुवन-मस्तक-शूल-विरोधि शिरोधि कृतामल-शूलकरे।
दुमिदुमि-तामर-दुन्दुभिनाद-महो-मुखरीकृत-तिग्मकरे
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते॥६॥

அயி ஶரணாக³த-வைரி-வதூ⁴வர-வீர-வராப⁴ய-தா³யகரே
த்ரிபு⁴வன-மஸ்தக-ஶூல-விரோதி⁴ ஶிரோதி⁴ க்ருʼதாமல-ஶூலகரே|
து³மிது³மி-தாமர-து³ந்து³பி⁴னாத³-மஹோ-முக²ரீக்ருʼத-திக்³மகரே
ஜய ஜய ஹே மஹிஷாஸுரமர்தி³னி ரம்யகபர்தி³னி ஶைலஸுதே|| 6||

ayi śaraṇāgata-vairi-vadhūvara-vīra-varābhaya-dāyakare
tribhuvana-mastaka-śūla-virodhi śirodhi kṛtāmala-śūlakare।
dumidumi-tāmara-dundubhināda-maho-mukharīkṛta-tigmakare
jaya jaya he mahiṣāsuramardini ramyakapardini śailasute॥6॥

பொருள் :

சரணடைந்த எதிரிகளின் மனைவியருக்கும், வீரர்களுக்கும் அபயமளிப்பவளே !  தன் சூலத்திற்கு ( தனக்கு ) எதிராக இருப்பவன் மூவுலகை ஆள்பவனானாலும், தன் திரிசூலத்தால் அவனை தலைவணங்கச் செய்பவளே ! துந்துபி எனும் வாத்தியதிலிருந்து எழும் ' தும் தும் ' எனும் நாதப் பிரவாஹத்தைப் போல் அட்டஹாஸம் செய்பவளே !   மஹிஷாசஸுரனை அழித்தவளே !  அழகாகப் பின்னிய கூந்தலை உடையவளே !  மலைமகளே !  உனக்கு வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும், உனக்கே வெற்றி உண்டாகட்டும்.   6

(O Divine Mother, I invoke You and take refuge in Your Auspicious Feet)
6.1: Salutations to You O Divine Mother; I Invoke You; Who gave Abhaya to the Heroic Soldiers of the Enemy when their Good Wives took Her Refuge,
6.2: (I Invoke You) Whose Pure Trident in Hand Capture the Heads of the Heads (Rulers) of the Three Worlds who Oppose that Trident,
6.3: Whose Victory give rise to Dumi-Dumi Sound of Dundubhi Drum flowing incessantly like Water which fills All the Directions with Joy,
6.4: Victory to You, Victory to You, (I take Refuge in Your Auspicious Feet) O the Destroyer of Demon Mahishasura; (Victory to You) Who Shine with Beautiful Locks of Hair and Who is the Daughter of the Mountain.   6
