Rama stotram by Parashurama - Sloka 7

॥ श्री राम स्तोत्रम‌् ॥

||  ஶ்ரீ ராம ஸ்தோத்ரம் ||

॥ ŚRĪ RĀMA STOTRAM ॥

जडस्य चित्समायोगाच्चित्त्वं भूयाच्चितेस्तथा ।
जडसङ्गाज्जडत्वं हि जलाग्न्योर्मेलनं यथा ॥ ३७॥

ஜட³ஸ்ய சித்ஸமாயோகா³ச்சித்த்வம்ʼ பூ⁴யாச்சிதேஸ்ததா² |
ஜட³ஸங்கா³ஜ்ஜட³த்வம்ʼ ஹி ஜலாக்³ன்யோர்மேலனம்ʼ யதா² ||  37||

jaḍasya citsamāyogāccittvaṃ bhūyāccitestathā ।
jaḍasaṅgājjaḍatvaṃ hi jalāgnyormelanaṃ yathā ॥ 37॥

பொருள் :

குளிர்ந்த நீரை நெருப்பில் காய்ச்சினால், அது உஷ்ணமடைகிறது;  உஷ்ணமான நெருப்பில் தண்ணீர் ஊற்றினால், அது குளிர்ந்து போகிறது. அதே போல, ஜடமான புத்தியுடன் சேதநனான ஆத்மா இணையும்போது, புத்திக்குச் சேதனத் தன்மையும், ஆத்மாவுடன் ஜடமான புத்தி சேரும் போது ஆத்மாவின் இயல்பு மறைந்து ( ' நானே செய்கிறேன் ; நானே அனுபவிக்கிறேன் ' என்ற) புத்தியின் ஜடத்தன்மையும் வெளிப்படுகின்றன.   37

Meaning :

The insentient body-mind complex, by identification with  the pure sentiency that is the Atman, assumes sentiency. So also the Atman, who is pure sentiency, assumes insentiency by identification with the insentient body mind complex. It is just like the mutual superimposition of lightning in which water in the phenomenon of lightning in which water (cloud) and fire with opposite properties get a unified presentation as the brilliant and fiery lightening.   37
